The Wood Brothers
Origin: United States
Genres: Blues, Folk/Country
Brothers Oliver and Chris Wood grew up in Boulder, Colorado. Fresh out of high school, guitarist Oliver left for Atlanta, where he assembled blues-rock combo King Johnson (named after Freddy King and Robert Johnson). Bassist Chris moved to New York City, where he formed avant-jazz trio Medeski, Martin and Wood. The brothers took to jamming together informally at family reunions, and went on to play their first public concert in 2005 - as heard on the private EP Live at Tonic. Produced by John Medeski, Way Not to Lose (2006) and Loaded (2008) showcase the Woods' enticing blend of blues, folk and country music.
