Trio Joubran
Origin: Palestine
Genre: World
The Palestinian band of brothers Trio Joubran follows in the footsteps of a rich family musical heritage and tradition of oud makers and players. They were formed by Samir, the eldest of the three, starting out solo in 1996 with the release of his first album, Taqaseem. Instrument-maker Wissam joined him in time for a third album, Tamaas. With the addition of youngest brother Adnan in 2005 came Trio Joubran's first album, Randana, followed by Majâz, in 2007. They have since travelled the world over, playing their unique oud sounds and bringing back this traditional Arabic instrument to the forefront of contemporary Middle-Eastern music. On stage, Trio Joubran is accompanied by percussionist Youssef Hbeisch. Taking its title from a tribute concert to the late Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwich, the live CD/DVD À l'ombre des mots came out in 2009.
