French pianist and composer Alfio Origlio turned to piano jazz after doing his classical studies at music conservatories in Grenoble and later, Annecy. Origlio's eclectic piano style has made him one of the most in-demand session musicians in France, with collaborations ranging from Henri Salvador to Michel Legrand to Didier Lockwood to Michel Jonasz. With a particular penchant for flamenco and dance, the pianist released three albums of original compositions as leader of his group, Passeggiata: Passeggiata (2003), Ricordo (2005), and Ascendances (2006), featuring Xavier Sanchez (percussions), Vicente Amigo (guitar), Sharon Sultan (dance) and Laurent Vernerey (bass). In 2010, the versatile pianist released Headhunters Tribute Live #1, in homage to Herbie Hancock.
