Ivan Garzon

Origin: Mexico

Main instrument: Acoustic guitar/electric guitar

Genres: Jazz, Manouche jazz (Gypsy jazz)

Mexican-born guitarist Ivan Garzon picked up his first guitar at the age of 13. Initially interested in rock and funk music, the young guitarist started out playing in a vintage rock cover band, before joining the group Ying Yang, with whom he released three albums and a popular music video broadcast internationally. Garzon later relocated to Spain, where he enrolled in Madrid's Escuela de Música Creativa, helping him hone his guitar skills in various jazz styles such as Gypsy, jazz, contemporary and traditional jazz. In 2007, the musician moved to Montréal, where he formed the Ivan Garzon Quartet, with musicians Adrian Vedady, Martin Auguste and Alan McLean.
