Chic Gamine
Origin: Manitoba, Canada
Genres: Pop, Vocal jazz
Formed in Winnipeg in 2007, Chic Gamine are a vocal quintet composed of Ariane Jean, Andrina Turenne, Alexa Dirks, Annick Brémault and drummer Sacha Daoud, ex-members of various soul or vocal ensembles, namely little boy boom, Gaïa and Madrigaïa. With only percussions as backbone to their songs, the four vocalists provide harmonies and all matters of string arrangements with their vocal chords. Now based in Montréal, the group has traveled their unique sound throughout North America, even serving as opening act for Smokey Robinson at the Festival at Sandpoint, in Idaho. The quintet released their acclaimed full-length debut, Chic Gamine, in 2008, winning them the Canadian JUNO Award for Best Roots/Traditional Album. City City came out in the fall of 2010.
