Montréal-based saxophonist, composer and arranger Cameron Wallis grew up in Winnipeg to a music-loving family. Already interested in saxophone as a toddler, Wallis recalls playing air sax to a Bruce Springsteen song while still in his diapers. At 7, his family encouraged him to take up piano lessons, and later the clarinet. At 14, Wallis discovered his passion for the saxophone, during a concert given at a music camp. Today a McGill Master of jazz, the award-winning musician has namely collaborated with Quebec rock star Jean Leloup and jazz vocalist Sophie Milman, whose second album he arranged and composed for in 2007. As one half of the jazz duo OneUpOneDown, with pianist Paul Shrofel, Wallis released the acclaimed albums Preface (2005) and Straight to Plan B (2007).
