Éric Auclair

Origin: Quebec, Canada

Main instrument: Bass/double bass/cello

Genre: Jazz

Montréal percussionist Éric Auclair first got noticed playing double bass in jazz trio Thüryn Von Pranke. His talent soon made him an in-demand musician, multiplying collaborations with such Montréal jazz luminaries as Michel Cusson or Yannick Rieu, or Québec and French pop stars Daniel Bélanger, Pierre Lapointe, Patricia Kaas and Diane Tell. As a leader, he formed the Trio Éric Auclair and has participated in various projects outside of the jazz sphere, including electro outfits c:be, with singer Christine Maisonneuve, and Very Hardware. In 2009, he teamed up with Montréal jazz staple Karen Young to form Electro-Beatniks, a musical project blending spoken word with jazz and electronica.
