Raised in Cincinnati surrounded by music, thanks to parents who owned nightclubs, Sonny Moorman grew up rubbing shoulders with legendary musicians, such as guitarist Lonnie Mack. Moorman waited to graduate from university before embarking on a career as a musician, spending the following decade playing in various Detroit bands and later, Los Angeles. There, his tenure as a professional guitarist grew, playing with Warren Zevon's touring band Z Deluxe. In 1994, Moorman formed his own blues rock trio, Moorman and the Dogs, and signed his first record deal with 706 Records, label of the legendary Sun Studios. Today, the blues rocker performs with his trio the Sonny Moorman Group, whose recent releases include Sonny's Blues (2005) and Sonny Moorman: Live at the Cincy Blues Fest (2007).
