Slavic Soul Party!

Genres: Jazz, R&B/Soul/Funk, World

Formed in NYC in 2000, Slavic Soul Party! energetically mixes traditional Balkan brass, Gypsy and Macedonian music with American jazz and funk. Founded and led by vibraphonist and multi-instrumentalist Matt Moran, the group first started out as a quintet and evolved into a nine-piece orchestra, with Moran on drums. Since its inception, the group has been performing 100 times a year around the world, with regular tours in the Balkans, Serbia and Macedonia, where they recorded the live album In Makedonija in 2002. Slavic Soul Party! released their fifth album Taketron in 2009, for the first time incorporating electronic elements to their brassy sounds.
