Jazz Mafia

Origin: United States

Genres: Big Band, Hip-hop, Jazz

Created in 1998 by young jazz composer and multi-instrumentalist Adam Theis, Jazz Mafia is a collective of jazz, brass, big band and hip hop groups from San Francisco's Bay Area, consisting of Realistic Orchestra, The Shotgun Wedding Quartet, Brass Mafia, the Shotgun Wedding Hip-Hop Symphony, and many more. Like Theis, Jazz Mafia has been a staple of the Bay area's jazz scene. Its horn section - known simply as the Jazz Mafia Horns - has performed with a wealth of artists, including 1980s pop star Thomas Dolby, a collaboration that spawned the acclaimed album Thomas Dolby and the Jazz Mafia Horns LIVE at SXSW in 2007.
