Toronto's Amanda Martinez grew up surrounded by music, with her Mexican father and South African mother. The singer-songwriter learned piano and ballet as a child, but soon changed paths and found herself with a Masters in international business and a career as associate director for a bank. From her years as host of her own successful jazz radio show on Toronto's JAZZ FM, she soon pursued her lifelong dream of recording and performing, and in 2006 released her award-winning debut album Sola. The year 2008 saw her touring around the world with Jesse Cook, with performances in Dubai and New York. Her sophomore album, Amor, featuring songs she wrote in Spanish, her second language, was released in 2009.
