Born in Bern, Switzerland, in 1983, Sophie Hunger took her first piano lessons at the age of 9, and in her late teens played in various local punk/rock bands, including Fisher, with whom she released a self-titled album in 1995. In 2006, the multi-instrumentalist recorded the demo Sketches on Sea in her living room, selling several thousand copies thanks to an enthusiastic local press. With her popularity rapidly growing, she released her first studio album, Monday's Ghost, in 2008, an instant number one chart topper and gold album in Switzerland. Garnering invitations to perform at the Montreux Jazz Festival and touring around the world with her five-piece band, she released her third album 1983, in 2010. Two years later, she played a string of solo recitals dedicated to the songs of Bob Dylan and put out The Danger of Light. In 2015, she came back with Supermoon.
