Plants & Animals

Origin: Quebec, Canada

Genres: Folk/Country, Rock

Formed in 2004, Montréal-based trio Plants and Animals blend an eclectic mix of rootsy folk, progressive rock and country, forging a sound all their own that is not easy to label, but always uplifting. Armed with nothing more than two guitars, a drum kit and a sense of humour, band members Warren Spicer (guitar, vocals), Matthew Woodley (drums, percussion, vocals) and Nicolas Basque (guitar, bass, vocals) have been steadily releasing albums since their lauded self-released debut in 2005. Recorded entirely on analog tape, their blissful 2008 follow-up Parc Avenue was nominated in their home country for a Polaris Prize and a Juno, and gained international attention after an extensive tour. The energetic and louder La La Land was released in 2010.
