Howard Moody

Origin: United Kingdom

Main instrument: Piano

Genres: Classical Music, Jazz

Composer, conductor and versatile keyboard player Howard Moody started his prolific career by graduating with high honours from his organ studies at the New College Oxford, and later the Guildhall School of Music. Moody has since blossomed into one of Britain's finest conductors, leading some of the world's greatest orchestras, including the BBC Symphony Orchestra. His compositions range from operatic to chamber music to requiems, and his collaborations include artists as diverse as Marianne Faithfull, or a musical with poet Ian McMillan. In recent years, Moody has worked extensively with saxophonist John Surman, together releasing a series of award-winning albums featuring mainly improvised concertos, like Proverbs and Songs (1996) and the Rain on the Window (2008).
