American guitarist, writer and arranger David Fiuczynski is best known as the leader of the 1990s and 2000s quartet Screaming Headless Torsos, but it was his subsequent career as a solo guitarist that ranked him as one of the most innovative guitarists around. In 1994, he released the fusion inspired album Lunar Crush with John Medeski, sparking a tiny revolution in fusion-jazz circles. His contemporary approach to jazz also transpired in his 1999 release Punk Jazz, blending Chopin, Hendrix and many more into electric-jazz pieces. Throughout his career, Fiuczynski has worked with such groundbreaking artists as John Zorn and has participated in over 95 albums. In 2000, he formed Kif, a group blending funk and jazz. The group released Kif in 2000 and Kif Express in 2006
