1970 -
Origin: Quebec, Canada
Main instrument:
Vocal
Genre: R&B/Soul/Funk
Born in 1970 in a small rural Québec town, singer Nadja grew up in a strict religious family where music was prohibited, and spent most her teen years torn between wanting to sing and honouring her parents' wishes. Eager to start on her own, the young singer moved to Montréal at 18, where she found work singing in clubs and restaurants. In 2000, she was offered a six-month contract to work the hotel entertainment circuit in Hong Kong, where she ended up staying for six years. After her return to Montréal, she went back to singing in clubs, where Québec singing star Mario Pelchat heard her sing and decided to sign her on the spot, blown away by the lady's powerful voice. In 2009, she finally released her first self-titled album, featuring 12 covers of standard 1960s soul and pop classics. Everything's Going My Way came out two years later.
