An active figure in Montréal's bubbling jazz scene since 2000, young trombonist and big band leader Jean-Nicolas Trottier graduated with honours from his 2005 Jazz studies at McGill University. His renowned versatility has made him one of the most sought-after young musicians in the city, with collaborations as an arranger for a wide array of local artists from DJ Champion to local indie hero Patrick Watson. With several awards under his belt, Trottier's talents never go unnoticed, winning the CBC Galaxie Rising Star Award at the Ottawa Jazz Fest in 2003, and Discovery of the Year from the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal in 2005. He can be heard in various Montréal clubs as leader of the Jean-Nicolas Trottier Big Band.
