Palm trees, gentle surf and exotic flowers - these aren't things one would expect to experience in Montreal, but local Hawaiian outfit Le Maï Taï Orchestra is working on our senses. The eclectic and international group of musicians faithfully recreates the languid sounds of tiki culture, warming crowds with each strain of the ukulele wafting from the sandy white beaches of one island to the frozen shores of another. Maï Taï formed, rather appropriately, in December, 1999, at the 37th anniversary of the Coconut Bar in Trois-Rivières. Ten years later, the ensemble released its debut album, I Found My Wahine.
