Griffith Hiltz Trio

Origin: Ontario, Canada

Genre: Jazz

The idea to form the Griffith Hiltz Trio began with a set of dusty bass pedals. Johnny Griffith, a saxophonist and clarinetist, and a member of the popular funk band Pocket Dwellers, retrieved the inconspicuous pedals from his basement during a jam session with his friend and music collaborator, Nathan Hiltz. The rich sound that emanated told them what to do next. Now joined by drummer Sly Juhas, the trio is influenced by 1960s Blue Note artists while incorporating elements of Celtic and Eastern music. Their debut album will be recorded under the watchful eye - and well-tuned ear - of producer and jazz great Don Thompson.
