Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1955, Romero Lubambo nourished a passion for the guitar as a teenager. He studied music until 1978, and in 1985 he left his native Brazil and moved to New York. There, he formed the Trio da Paz with musicians Duduka da Fonseca and Nilson Matta. In 1992 the group launched their first CD, titled Brazil From The Inside, a synthesis of Brazilian rhythms with traditional and improvisational jazz. The guitarist has also recorded solo efforts as well as collaborated on numerous projects with such artists as Dianne Reeves, Herbie Mann and Diana Krall.
