Parc X Trio is made up of Alex Lefaivre on upright bass, Gabriel Vinuela-Pelletier on piano and Mark Nelson on the drums. This instrumental jazz ensemble flirts on the edges of pop and world music, guided by their desire to create a sound that reflects the cultural diversity their neighbourhood, Parc-Extension, as well as the city of Montréal. The trio was formed in 2007 and has since appeared in many bars and festivals around town, playing original compositions and arrangements of well-known tunes, with their first album coming out in the spring of 2009. As part of  the 30th edition of the Festival, Parc X Trio took part in the competition for the General Motors Grand Jazz Award, before being awarded the TD Jazz Grand Prix the following year.
