Jill Barber
Origin: Ontario, Canada
Main instrument:
Vocal
Genre: Pop
The music of Canadian Jill Barber transcends time and trends. This singer-songwriter has drawn raves for her warm voice, which recalls that of great song divas like Edith Piaf. This vocal signature is showcased on the 2008 CD, Chances, whose traditional romantic style evokes the music of the 1950s. Earlier in her career, Barber went through a country-folk phase best exemplified by her CD, For All Time, for which she was named female artist of the year at the 2007 East Coast Music Awards. Mischievous Moon came out in 2011. A French album, Chansons, followed two years later.
