J.P. Soars & The Red Hots
Origin: United States
Genres: Blues, Jazz
Hailing from South Florida, J.P. Soars and The Red Hots have been heating up the blues scene since they formed in 2005. Their rendition of Muddy Waters' Gypsy Woman at the 2009 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee - the largest gathering of unsigned blues artists in the world - won them top prize and earned Soars the coveted Albert King Award for best guitarist. Not bad for a musician who played in heavy metal bands until 2005. Bassist Gary Rimmington and drummer Chris Peet round out the Red Hots' smokey sound. In 2008, the group released its debut album, Back of My Mind.
