Born in Osaka, Japan, Eri Yamamoto took her first classical piano lessons at age three. Throughout her high school and college days, she also studied voice, viola and composition. In 1995, after hearing pianist Tommy Flanagan, she decided to relocate to New York and dedicate herself to jazz. The same year, Yamamoto entered the New School University's jazz program. In 1999, while still in school, she started appearing at the Avenue B Social Club, and, as of 2000, began performing with a trio at famous jazz club Arthur's Tavern. Since then, the pianist has released a string of albums. Comprised of original numbers, Each Day, Something New was slated for a January 2010 release.
