Gypsophilia
Origin: Nova Scotia, Canada
Genre: Manouche jazz (Gypsy jazz)
The eight members of Gypsophilia share a common passion for Django Reinhardt. Expanding on the music of the legendary Gypsy jazz guitarist, the group has blended in a wide array of influences: from indie-rock to folk, from klezmer to funk and classical music. A frequent performer at some of the best-known Canadian jazz and folk festivals, this Halifax-based band released its first album in 2007. They have also written the soundtrack to the film The Lullaby of Mike Bossy. Sa-ba-da-OW! came out in 2009, followed by Constellation two years later.
