Eden Brent
Origin: United States
Main instrument:
Vocal
Genre: Blues
A blues-jazz revelation, this American pianist, a student of blues pioneer Boogaloo Ames, is on the point of surpassing his teacher. Brent has used her boundless energy and throaty vocals-by turns melancholy and light-hearted-to craft her unique style. Some have compared her timbre to that of Diana Krall. Others have likened her electrifying stage presence to that of Janis Joplin. Her debut CD, the 2008 release Mississippi Number One, is made up largely of original compositions.
