Curumin
1976 -
Origin: Brazil
Genres: Electronica, Hip-hop
In Portuguese, Curumin refers to the indigenous children of Brazil. It is also the nickname given to Luciano Nakata Albuquerque, a Brazilian artist of Spanish and Japanese origin. Remembering the music of his younger days spent in Sao Paolo in the 1970s, he dabbles with funk and bossa nova-he even throws a bit of hip-hop into the mix for good measure. His first proper band, Zomba, morphed into Curumin, a solo project which spawned JapanPopShow. On this record, Luciano deftly mixes Brazilian samba-funk with electronica and hip-hop.
