Kiernan Overs has been active on the Canadian jazz scene since 1970, first playing guitar and electric bass and later switching to acoustic bass. As a sideman he has performed with jazz legends Chet Baker and Zoots Sims, toured internationally with Dizzy Gillespie and contributed to more than 80 albums. The Toronto-born bassist is also an accomplished solo artist, having released his debut, Gateway, in 1990, and, more recently, For the Record in 2003. Overs and his quartet were nominated for the Festival's Du Maurier Jazz Award in 1996, and he won the Prix de Jazz as part of the John Stetch Trio in 1998.
