Bill Evans
1958 -
Origin: United States
Main instrument:
Saxophone
Genre: Jazz
As a child, Bill Evans focused on playing the piano until he picked up the saxophone in high school.... And the rest is history. In 1978, he pursued an apprenticeship with Dave Liebman, who was working with Miles Davis at the time. Soon after, Evans himself had the chance to play on stage and in studio with the legendary trumpeter. This memorable exchange was followed by a collaboration with John McLaughlin and his newly revived Mahavishnu Orchestra. In the mid-1980s, Evans launched his solo career. A versatile musician, he touches on all genres, from jazz to funk all the way to "soulgrass," a fusion of soul and bluegrass.
