Widely renowned as one of the finest drummers in Canada, Paul Brochu studied under celebrated percussionist Roger Juneau before earning his Master’s Degree in percussion from the Conservatoire de Québec. In 1980, he joined legendary Montreal jazz fusion group UZEB, leading the genre with albums and tours until their dissolution in 1992. A highly sought-after musician, he has collaborated with the greatest names in jazz and Canadian music and left his mark on an impressive range of albums, TV and radio programs, film soundtracks and PR productions. He has performed at the Festival some twenty times, as part of UZEB and alongside Patricia Deslauriers, Jean Pierre Zanella, Gino Vanelli, Michel Donato, Sylvain Provost, Norman Lachapelle and the Undercover Quartet. Also an educator, he has taught at various institutions including Université de Laval, Université de Sherbrooke and Université de Montréal.
