Preservation Hall Jazz Band

Origin: United States

Genre: Jazz

The Preservation Hall Jazz Band is an American jazz orchestra founded in New Orleans in the early ’60s. While its membership has changed over the years, it has remained faithful to its mission: promoting the traditional New Orleans jazz style. Many of its founding members played with the pioneers of jazz, including Buddy Bolden, Jelly Roll Morton, Louis Armstrong and Bunk Johnson; from generation to generation, the group has communicated its passion and musical knowledge to the world, while the spirit of the group has remained true to its founding principles. The PHJB has traveled all over the world, performing in Carnegie Hall and the Lincoln Center, as well as for British royalty and the king of Thailand. Since 1964, the group has produced over 30 albums.
