Return to Forever

Origin: United States

Genre: Fusion

Formed by keyboardist Chick Corea, jazz fusion outfit Return to Forever appeared on the scene in 1971. Brazilian percussionist Airto Moreira and singer Flora Purim provided the group with a Latin touch in its early days, but Corea soon chose to veer the band towards a more progressive rock sound. A handful of players came and went before the definitive line-up of bassist Stanley Clarke, drummer Lenny White, and guitarist Al Di Meola was set in stone. The quartet shined on Where Have I Known You Before (1974), No Mystery (1975), and Romantic Warrior (1976). After disbanding in 1979, Return to Forever reformed in 2008 for a successful world tour. Three years later, they hit the road once more, this time with violinist Jean-Luc Ponty on board
