The name ‘George Wein' will surely go down in history as the man responsible for starting up the world famous Newport Jazz Festival in 1954. Back in the day, this promoter-producer already had a great career as a pianist, mostly focusing on swing music and Dixieland. In the mid-50's, he played live and recorded with the Newport All-Stars, featuring an impressive lineup of seasoned musicians. In 2009, Wein and company were expected in Montréal in time to help celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Festival.
