Chicago-born Stanley Jordan's star rose quickly thanks to his incredible technique and unique playing style. A veritable virtuoso on the guitar, he has made a major technical contribution to his instrument by employing the ‘touch' technique using his instrument like a keyboard, tapping the strings instead of plucking or strumming them. Although he wasn't the inventor of the ‘touch' technique, he has certainly mastered the art and revolutionized the sonic possibilities of the guitar.
