Randy Brecker, known for being an excellent hard bop trumpet player, also excels in funk, pop, world beat, and rock. He played with his brother, saxophonist Michael Brecker in the jazz-rock group Dreams, before forming the Brecker Brothers, a jazz-funk fusion band. They recorded several albums in the 1970s, and after parting ways in 1982 (only to reunite in the 1990s...), Randy went on tour and recorded with Jaco Pastorius' big band Word of Mouth. He has played with a host of other musicians ranging from Billy Cobham, Charlie Mingus, Blood Sweat and Tears, to Horace Silver and Eliane Elias.
