Bonobo is actually Simon Green, a British musician, DJ, and producer. A proponent of breakbeat and the downtempo movement, he is also drawn to funk and dub, using multiple layers of bass and percussion to build his chilled, hypnotic tracks. After releasing his self-produced album, Animal Magic in 2000, he was scooped up by the Ninja Tune label. When he performs live, Bonobo surrounds himself with other musicians, infusing organic energy into his mostly electronic mix. Black Sands came out in 2010.
