The Fabulous LoLo
Origin: Quebec, Canada
Main instrument:
Vocal
Genre: Reggae
First came The Kingpins, followed by Lo and The Magnetics, and now, The Fabulous LoLo. Lorraine Muller, Queen of Ska and Rocksteady, has been the driving force behind - or rather fronting - all three bands. She's toured with hits of the reggae, ska and rocksteady repertoire since the late 1990s. In 2006, she approached the Festival with the idea for a seven-piece supergroup, which resulted in a show called The Fabulous LoLo Sings Rocksteady. The band returned in 2008, making a live recording of Shanty Town 007, with bassist Errol Walters and guitarist Lynn Taitt. It was released on the compilation Unity: A Tribute to Desmond Dekker. Lorraine Muller has also appeared at the 2009 Victoria Ska Festival and the 2009 and 2010 editions of the Montréal Ska Festival.
