Burning Spear began as a trio but has since been the story of a single man, Winston Rodney, one of the first reggae musicians to embrace the Rastafarian cause-together with Bob Marley, of course. Since Burning Spear's recording debut in 1969, Rodney has staked a place in the reggae pantheon with his soulful vocals and his social engagement. He is among the most popular and respected roots artists in Jamaica.
