The Shuffle Demons started as a popular street band in Toronto, 1984, and ended up a Juno-nominated "cosmic musical force" by the early 2000s. Singing about cockroaches, a city bus and beer, the jazz ensemble kept their street-cred with the appropriately titled debut, Streetniks (1986). The album sold 15,000 copies, breaking the then-record for independent releases. Now a Canadiana fixture (thanks to their 1995 reworking of the classic theme song Hockey Night in Canada and 2004 appearance as a National Post crossword clue) the Demons are back to celebrate their 25th anniversary in 2009.
