Kaki King started performing solo guitar at university, during open-mike nights on campus. Later, she developed her percussive style playing in the New York City subway. Her demo opened doors at Velour Recordings, where she recorded Everybody Loves You (2003) for acoustic guitar. Each of her subsequent discs has been the result of stylistic experimentation. On Legs to Make Us Longer (2004), she added drums, double bass and other strings to the instrumentation. With Until We Felt Red (2006), her singing figured prominently for the first time. Junior (2006) confirmed the singer-songwriter's interest in pop and rock - King had already worked with Tegan and Sara and the Foo Fighters...
