Buck 65

1972 -

Origin: Nova Scotia, Canada

Main instrument: Vocal

Genres: Electronica, Hip-hop

A native of Mount Uniacke, near Halifax, Nova Scotia, Richard Terfry got his start in  hip-hop  as a DJ on university radio. After trying out several pseudonyms, according to his mood - Johnny Rockwell, Haslam, Stinkin' Rich, Uncle Climax - he finally chose Buck 65 as the name for his unique brand of hip-hop crossed with blues, country, rock and electro. Starting in 1995, a slew of maxis and albums (including Language Arts, Vertex, Man Overboard, and Weirdo Magnets) preceded the release of Talkin' Honky Blues (2003), the disc that earned him a Juno and international acclaim. In 2011, to celebrate his two-decade career, the prolific artist came out with 20 Odd Years.
