Tierney Sutton Band
Origin: United States
Genre: Vocal jazz
Formed in the mid-1990s, the Tierney Sutton Band is known for deconstructing jazz standards into neat, minimalist arrangements with maximal effect. Although headlined by vocalist Tierney Sutton, the jazz quintet (which also includes pianist Christian Jacob, drummer Ray Brinker, and bassists Trey Henry and Kevin Axt) prides itself on being a creative collaboration, hailed by critics as having "palpable chemistry," "phenomenal rapport" and "telepathic give and take." In 2007, the group released its seventh album, On the Other Side, for which it received a Grammy nomination for Best Vocal Jazz Album. The follow-up, Desire, appeared two years later.
