Genres: Latin, Reggae, Rock
Formed in 1992, this Mexican group briefly flirted with ska before turning to a more punk sound. Over the years-and particularly since signing with the Luaka Bop label-the band has kept its punk attitude but infused the music with more Latin influences. The message is still combative and engaged, but the rhythms are more festive and dance oriented. Together, these elements form a happy mix of high-energy rock, salsa, reggae-ska and cumbia that the band has dubbed "tropipunk."
