Pierre Tanguay

1957 -

Origin: Quebec, Canada

Main instrument: Drums/percussion

Genre: Jazz

A musician in high demand, Pierre Tanguay has built a solid reputation on the Quebec jazz scene as a percussionist and composer. Appreciated equally for his talent and charisma, he kicked off his career in the ’80s and has since collaborated with musicians including Michel Donato, François Bourassa, Jean Derome, Jean-François Groulx, Normand Guilbeault, Pierre Langevin, René Lussier, and Antoine Berthiaume, as well as groups such as the trio Derome Guilbeault Tanguay, Les Malcommodes, L’Odd (Orchestre de danse) and Villemure ô Carré. Equally at ease in jazz, new music, and the medieval and traditional genres, he has composed for dance (Lucie Grégoire, Andrew de Lotbinière Harwood, Irène Stamou, Francine Gagné), theatre and film (Allan Booth, Imago, Roberto Ariganello). He regularly tours Canada and Europe and records often.
