Origin: Alberta, Canada

Genres: Jazz, Latin

Edmonton, Alberta might seem like an unlikely base for one of Canada's foremost Latin bands, but then, ¡Bomba! is an unusual confluence of cultural and musical backgrounds. Drummer Mario Allende is originally from Chile, bassist Rubim de Toledo is of Brazilian descent and keyboardist Chris Andrew hails from Vancouver Island. Together, they touch on a variety of music styles, including timba, rumba, salsa and songo, to create a vast repertoire. The group's third album, Entre Sol y Luz, incorporates new players and singers-expanding their Afro-Cuban, Latin-Jazz sound even further.
