A Brooklyn native and current Helsinki resident, Nicole Willis kicked off her career in the mid-’80s working with a range of major artists including the legendary Curtis Mayfield, Leftfield, Deee-Lite and The The. Joining nu-soul group The Repercussions as lead singer, she appeared on two albums, Charmed Life and Earth & Heaven. In 2000, WIllis launched her first solo album Soul Makeover, followed by Be It in 2004, unveiling an eclectic palette of soul and R&B tinged with electronica, jazz, funk and disco. She then joined The Soul Investigators, releasing two albums digging into the golden age of soul music, Keep Reachin’ Up (2005) and Tortured Soul (2012).
