Raised by a traveling musical family led by her Salvation Army minister parents, singer-songwriter and pianist Elizabeth Shepherd grew up performing in her father's musicals all over Canada and France for over a decade. After studying French poetry in France and later jazz piano at Montreal's McGill University, the aspiring musician moved to Toronto, where she first landed a job as a waitress in a piano bar, only to soon be promoted to piano-entertainment duties. Two years later, she released her first album, Start to Move, landing her two Canadian Juno nominations in 2007. Her unique jazz, samba and blues-infused style soon got noticed on an international scale, and in 2010, she released her third album, the lauded Heavy Falls the Night. Rewind followed in 2012.
