Jitterbug Swing
Origin: Québec, Canada
Genre: Blues
Montréal's Jitterbug Swing are Danielle Lemieux on vocals and washtub bass - which she plays standing up on a metal bucket, complete with a broom stick and single chord - and England-born musician Brian Edgar, on acoustic, slide, Dobro guitar and banjo. The pair first met in Halifax in the early 1980s, and soon after formed Jitterbug Swing, inspired by the early blues of the 1920s and 1930s and keeping the sound as true to the originals as possible. After a brief period of performing around Montréal as a quintet, Jitterbug Swing decided to pursue their musical path as a duo. In 2004, the couple released Who's Gonna Glove Your Hand, a first album of their favourite early blues songs from the 1920s.
