It all began in 2001, when vocalist Janne Schra posted a "musicians wanted" ad and guitarist Arriën Molema answered. Once keyboardist Tony Roe, contrabassist Lucas Dols and drummer Maarten Molema were onboard, Room Eleven was an official band. In 2006, the Amsterdam-based ensemble released their debut, Six White Russians and a Pink Pussycat, a cheerful jazz cocktail topped off with a splash of pop and a twist of bossanova. Mmm... Gumbo?, the group's follow-up album, adds gypsy and folk flavour to their nostalgia-infused lyrics, leaving listeners hungry for more.
