Mélissa Laveaux

Mélissa Laveaux

1985 -

Origin: Canada / France

Main instrument: Vocal

Genres: Folk/Country, Jazz

Mélissa Laveaux was born in Montreal and has also lived in Ottawa. It was in Paris, though, that her career really took flight. Charmed by her demo, the French label No Format! travelled to Québec to hear her and offered her a contract on the spot. The result was the 2008 release Camphor & Copper, which builds on the self-produced CD Laveaux released two years earlier. Camphor & Copper reveals a young singer with raw talent whose very personal music combines elements of folk and Americana and is devoid of artifice. The music also showcases Laveaux's warm, slightly raunchy voice.
